Learn more about permanent makeup, whether it’s right for you, and how you can get started with your own personalized makeup procedure.
Want to enhance your natural beauty without tedious hours and money spent on makeup? Try permanent makeup tattoos! With cosmetic tattoos, you can add coloring and typical makeup looks to your skin that remains there without any daily application. Cosmetic tattooing comes in pigments for any skin tone. While cosmetic tattooing can be applied anywhere on the skin to help with stretch marks and scarring, eyebrows, lips, and eyes are most popular. Learn more about the permanent makeup industry, whether permanent makeup is right for you, and how you can get started with a procedure of your own today.
Much like a regular tattoo, permanent makeup applies pigment to the dermal layer of the skin. The iron oxide in the pigment tattoos the skin, and the top layer of skin has the appearance of makeup. Before applying, a technician may apply topical anesthetics to lessen any pain during the procedure.
Not sure if you want the fine details that permanent makeup can provide? Here are some reasons to consider this tattoo procedure for enhancing your skin.
Makeup is often used to increase confidence, but permanent makeup can do that even better. Not only can you feel confident knowing you look gorgeous from the moment you wake up, but the tattoo procedure also goes beyond makeup.
Often, confidence suffers due to stretch marks, scars left behind from breast surgery procedures, and similar abnormalities. But this cosmetic tattoo procedure can lessen the appearance of scar tissue on the body. This leaves you feeling better than ever in your skin.
Everyone wants to hit the beach or pool looking their best. But always having to wear waterproof makeup that still only leaves you with a caught-in-the-rain appearance is always disappointing. But when you always have eyeliner, lashes, brow, and lip pigment on, you don’t have to worry about the water and still look your best.
Pigments go beyond replicating lipstick. Symmetry is often regarded as an essential part of beauty. With tattooing, the pigment can be applied to give the illusion of symmetry, improving a person’s overall appearance.
There are times when wearing makeup isn’t allowed, such as in the healthcare industry, where a sterile environment is necessary. In a sterile environment, cosmetic particles can contaminate the space. But permanent pigments don’t contaminate while still giving you the look of having makeup on.
How much time does a person spend applying cosmetics every day? Even if you only spend 10 minutes every morning on your cosmetics, that time adds up to over an hour spent every week. And when you’re running late and don’t have time to spare on applying mascara, suddenly you won’t look and feel your best.
But a permanent treatment always enhances your beauty without any additional application required daily. So you’re always ready to step outside looking great.
Tattooing pigments will initially cost far more than a tube of lipstick. However, consider how much we spend on products each year, especially products designed for sensitive skin. Now think about how one treatment will last for years with affordable touch-up sessions now and then. In the end, it’s far more affordable than what anyone is spending on makeup over several years.

Rather than using ink like in traditional tattoos, permanent makeup uses thicker, less concentrated pigments. There are two main methods of permanent eyebrow makeup: micropigmentation (typically done with a machine) and micro-blading (applied with a manual hand tool). We do NOT do micro-blading, nor do we recommend it due to the scar tissue it will cause to the dermal and epidermal layer of your skin.
Microblading is NOT recommended by anyone here at Cloud 9 Luxury Spacloud 9 Luxury Spa. Microblading is placed with a hand tool that has 12 tiny pins on it and almost resembles a razor blade. Basically, it’s creating tiny little papercuts with pigment deposited in each one. It’s terrible for your skin and will result in some pretty serious scarring, which becomes more noticeable after the pigment has completely faded out. If you’ve ever had Mircroblading done, you WILL have scarring every time. You may not see it because it’s deep into the dermis, but after 3 touchups it will start to become visible and you will start to hate your Brows. We’ve seen scarring after just ONE session done by local artists, and it breaks our hearts. Permanent Makeup procedures and will educate you on the difference between Microblading and Permanent Makeup. Most people only know the term “Microblading” and don’t even realize the huge difference between Microblading and Permanent Makeup. Microblading is NOT regulated, which means ANYONE can do it: you don’t even need a license to take a client! Here at Cloud 9 Luxury Spa, all of our staff are properly certified and accredited in ALL of the procedures we offer. Please do your diligent research when it comes to your face!
3D hair strokes are designed to resemble realistic eyebrow hair. You would want this procedure if you have little to no brow hair to give them a more natural look. It is done with a machine and single tapered needle. Basically, we are creating tiny little strokes of pigment that pop and look like real hair. It doesn’t hurt because you are numbed 20 minutes before the procedure begins. Total healing time is 6-8 weeks. 3D hair strokes is a dry heal process for 3 days after the procedure, You cannot excessively sweat/exercise or get them wet during those 3 days while healing. A light aftercare cream (given at the conclusion of your appointment) is applied daily after those initial 3 days to help the skin to heal. It is a very easy process and following after care instructions will give you stunningly beautiful, realistic brows that can last up to 12 – 18 months.

Ombre is a powdered brow technique for clients who prefer fuller results than hair strokes, but still want them to appear very soft. This look resembles daily makeup done with an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow shadow. This particular procedure is our most common type of Brow done, as it’s considered the “Instagram Brow” by our younger clientele. Several different types of Power Ombre Brow are available and good for all skin types, especially oily skin with large pores.

The “Combo” (also known as the “3D stroke & shade”) is a combination of 3D hair strokes and the “Powder Brow” technique. This procedure is perfect for clients who like the look of a soft penciled or powdered eyebrow or for clients wanting a more defined look throughout the entire brow. The healing process for this type of brow is the same as 3D hair strokes since we will be putting some realistic strokes at the bulb of the brow and anywhere there is hair missing. It’s best to have a natural, full-looking brow for this type of technique to look good. Results from the Combo Brow will make you wake up smiling!

3D hair stroke eyebrows last 12-18 months for most people before they usually need a touch up. Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered permanent and will not wash off, though they will fade over time and may need to be refreshed annually. Those who did not follow after care instructions properly may require more frequent touch ups. Combo Brows and Ombre Powder Brows typically last longer at 2-4 years but will still need a touchup every 2-4 years. Keep in mind though that everyone’s skin is different.

We use three different types of topical numbing agents to help alleviate any discomfort. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.
Your brows will take 10-14 days to heal. During that time frame, we highly recommend that you let them naturally exfoliate off. DO NOT PICK AT YOUR BROWS! You would also be encouraged to keep them free of water, sweat, steam, etc. Once the scabbing phase passes, the brows will appear lighter, and their true color should come out after 4-6 weeks. It is also recommended that if you go outside to wear a hat; you don’t want your new brows to be damaged by the sun while they are healing! Don’t worry though, as long as you’re good at following the aftercare instructions provided there shouldn’t be a problem going to work or being out in public.
We specialize in very natural-looking eyeliner, so we only perform certain types. The procedure takes about 1.5 hours. We at Cloud 9 Luxury Spa refuse to (and we strongly advise against) PMU cat eyeliner, PMU colored liner and even black liner on lighter skin tones. Brown with a drop of black is usually a more flattering fit. If you do find a specialist who will give you PMU cat-eye liner, expect it to droop and crack in appearance as you age. You’re better off avoiding it.
Lash Enhancement Liner is the latest PMU beauty procedure on the rise. The technique involves tattooing a light black line across your natural lashes (not on your waterline) and can be done on the top, bottom, or both lash lines. The procedure requires a 4-6 week touch-up period after the initial process. Once the touch-ups are complete, the results can last up to 3-5 years.
Smudge Liner is very similar to the Lash Enhancement Liner, however it’s thicker and heals out to be more like traditional eyeliner that you would draw on with a pencil or liquid eyeliner pen. The procedure involves tattooing a thicker black line across your natural lashes (not on your waterline) and can be done on the top and bottom (or both) of the lash line. The procedure requires a 4-6 week touch-up period after the intial process. Once the touch-ups are done, the results can last up to 3-5 year.
This is a tattoo procedure that enhances or corrects your lips, but because our spa uses natural organic vegetable dye, it typically lasts no longer than two years. Click the picture to find out more about that particular service.
Lip Blushing AKA Lip Gloss is a form of semi-permanent makeup. Essentially, it is a cosmetic tattoo of the lips that enhances the beauty of the natural lip color, improving the shape of the lips, giving definition and the illusion of fullness, This procedure delivers very natural results, once healed. Filler is great for creating volume in your lips, but lip blush delivers a more natural look and give the illusion of fuller lips.

You want a natural look that will look great every day. If you find an artist online with a valid email address, you can contact them and ask them all your questions about the procedure. If they seem reliable, there are some factors that you’ll want to be on the lookout for. Make sure your artist checks all the boxes so you have a great experience. At Cloud 9, we offer the best in permanent makeup. So for all your makeup needs in Kenosha, WI, we can help. Schedule a consultation to learn more about what we offer. Here are some reasons you should choose Cloud 9 and what everyone should look for in a permanent makeup artist:
Former clients are the best source of information. They’ve already experienced what an artist has to offer and can give you an idea of what you can expect. So go online and check out reviews, especially what you find on third-party sites. Ensure that the past clients received proper care, excellent results, and had a good experience overall.
An official certificate demonstrates that a technician has undergone all the training necessary to deliver safe, high-quality results to customers. Whether it’s lip liner or reducing the look of stretch marks, you want a professional handling everything when it comes to your skin. So always check for proper certification from your artist like what we offer at Cloud 9.
When you go to a professional for treatment, you’re entrusting them with your body. So make sure they’re friendly, freely offer wellness tips, and are somewhere you’d be comfortable going back to for touch-up treatments when the results fade.
Your first appointment should only be a consultation. This way, you can get a good sense of the facility, ensure it’s clean and sterilizing to avoid the transmission of blood borne pathogens. If the facility is a comfortable and clean place, you can book your follow-up appointment for the actual procedure.
For the best treatment, you need a technician who is an expert in specialized techniques. With so many factors that go into your procedure, such as scars, asymmetry, and coloring, your technician should be able to handle it all.
Additionally, some technicians may offer unsafe treatments that cause scars like microblading. Make sure you stick with those who specialize in safe techniques that heal well and look great.
Results vary based on several factors, such as the procedure, skin type, and level of care.
The procedures are considered permanent, but the permanent pigmentation will fade. Regularly scheduled touch-ups help you through the fading process. Lips will last the shortest amount of time (less than two years), while eye makeup can last up to 5 years.
While you can expect some discomfort during the treatment, cosmetic tattooing is fairly painless. Before applying tattoos, technicians will often use a numbing agent to stop any true pain.
After the initial appointment, it may take a few sessions every six weeks to achieve the final result. To protect the skin and surrounding tissue, we always advise wearing a hat to stop sun exposure to avoid complications and skin damage during the healing process. Immediately after the procedure, a cold compress can reduce swelling, but you will heal in 10-14 days.
Procedures vary in price and depend on how many touch-ups you’ll need. If you want to learn more about the permanent makeup cost, call Cloud 9 for price details.
Just as tattoos are safe, permanent makeup is completely safe. And at Cloud 9, you can rest assured that we only use methods that are proven to be safe and avoid any potentially harmful techniques like microblading or water line applications.
We’ll evaluate your skin at a consultation for the best, natural results. Some procedures are better for oily skin or fade faster depending on the type. If you tell us your goals, our technicians will find the treatment that works best for you.
A cosmetic tattoo procedure isn’t just about cutting out the need to apply eyeliner in the morning. It can significantly improve your confidence and self-image while saving you time and money.
